Zetrix AI Berhad, formerly known as MY E.G. Services Berhad, has been named a founding member of the newly launched World Data Organisation (WDO), an international body focused on data governance and cross-border collaboration.

The company said it will serve on the WDO’s inaugural council and act as a representative for the ASEAN region.

Headquartered in Beijing, the WDO was launched on 30 March 2026, bringing together enterprises, universities, think tanks, international organisations and financial institutions. The organisation aims to address challenges related to global data governance, including differences in national policies and the need for common standards and best practices.

Its focus areas include promoting cross-border data cooperation, supporting real-world data applications in sectors such as healthcare, education and energy, and strengthening talent development, particularly in developing markets.

In a message marking the launch, Chinese president Xi Jinping described data as a “fundamental resource” and an “innovation engine”, and said the WDO could serve as a platform to strengthen international cooperation and improve global data governance.

Expressing China’s support for the initiative, he added that the country will work with all parties to forge consensus on data governance rules, promote innovation in digital and intelligent technologies, facilitate the secure, orderly flow and efficient development and utilisation of data, support the healthy development of the global digital economy, and ensure that the benefits of data are shared more widely.

TS Wong, group managing director of Zetrix AI, said the organisation could play a role in unlocking the value of data in an increasingly AI-driven environment.

“Data is the new factor of production in a world where AI is omnipresent. Every entity holds valuable data, and WDO plays a pivotal role in enabling this value to be unlocked,” he added.

Zetrix AI also highlighted its existing collaborations with Chinese entities, including the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, the General Administration of China Customs and Guangxi Beitou IT Innovation Technology Investment Group, in areas such as blockchain infrastructure, cross-border trade facilitation and digital identity.

The company said its involvement in initiatives such as the ASEAN-China AI Lab reflects its focus on regional collaboration in technologies including AI, blockchain and robotics.

It added that efforts are underway to explore the development of a global data marketplace in partnership with a leading exchange.
