The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) have entered into a collaboration aimed at strengthening expertise in sustainability disclosures. This partnership focuses on capacity-building through specialized training on climate-related financial disclosures and sustainability certifications.
This collaboration coincides with Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025, which emphasizes inclusivity and sustainability.
As part of this initiative, ICAEW conducted a workshop at the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF) Chairs Meeting in Penang. The workshop covered key topics such as IFRS S1 and S2 standards for climate and sustainability disclosures, scope 3 emissions reporting challenges, and the impact of global climate regulations like the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
