Cornerstone OnDemand, a leader in workforce agility solutions, has announced the appointment of Brenton Smith (pic) as vice president for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), strengthening its regional leadership team as organisations across the region accelerate workforce transformation and AI adoption initiatives.

In his new role, Smith will lead Cornerstone’s growth strategy across APJ, focusing on customer and partner engagement while expanding the company’s presence in key regional markets.

Smith brings extensive leadership experience across the technology sector, with a strong track record in driving regional growth, leading high-performing teams and scaling enterprise software businesses across Asia Pacific.

He joins Cornerstone after seven years at BMC Software, where he led the business across APJ from Australia and Singapore, supporting customers across Asean and the broader region. Smith has also worked extensively with organisations adopting large language models, AI agents and agentic AI technologies within enterprise environments.

Vincent Belliveau, chief international officer at Cornerstone, said Smith brings a strong customer-first mindset and deep understanding of the workforce and technology challenges organisations face today.

“Our customers are at the centre of everything we do, and Brenton’s deep understanding of the APJ market will help us strengthen those relationships and better support organisations as they navigate change and drive workforce transformation,” he said.

Smith said Cornerstone’s focus on keeping people at the centre of workforce transformation stood out to him.

“AI is there to support how employees work, learn and grow, and that creates a real opportunity to help organisations develop their people through continuous learning in a way that’s practical and impactful,” he said.

“I look forward to working with customers across Asia Pacific and Japan to help them adopt and scale technology in a way that supports their teams and drives real business outcomes.”
