- Selangor startups showcased AI, climate and health tech solutions
- Mission connected Malaysian founders with investors and ecosystem partners across Japan

The Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec), together with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (Mdec), concluded the Sidec WorldStage Venture mission to Tokyo, Japan from 25 April to 2 May 2026.
Anchored by Malaysia’s participation at SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026 — one of Asia’s leading startup and innovation conferences, the eight-day mission brought five Selangor-based AI and deep tech startups onto the international stage, facilitating investor connections, strategic partnerships and ecosystem engagements across Japan and the broader Asia-Pacific.
Over three exhibition days at Tokyo Big Sight, the Malaysia Pavilion hosted startup showcases and business matching sessions with investors, corporates and ecosystem players from around the world. The pavilion also received visits from Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike and Malaysia’s deputy chief of mission, Zainal, underscoring the diplomatic and economic significance of the mission.
The five participating companies reflected the breadth of Selangor’s technology ecosystem:
- Pixelence Sdn Bhd (Health AI): Developer of an AI predictive model that generates synthetic contrast-enhanced brain MRI images from standard scans, eliminating the need for gadolinium-based dyes. The company has completed clinical trials at Kanser Negara and HUSM and filed a patent for its core technology.
- CitySage Sdn Bhd (Urban AI / Smart Cities): An urban intelligence firm combining AI and human intelligence to support urban planning and resource management. CitySage entered SusHi Tech with an active JETRO collaboration involving Mitsubishi, a proof-of-concept engagement with Deloitte Japan, and an MoU with YTL AI.
- Rymba (Stream Capital Sdn Bhd) (Climate Tech): An environmental intelligence platform using AI, drones and satellite data to map and manage urban trees and green assets for smart cities and forest authorities. Rymba has an active partnership with Perbadanan Kemajuan Perak (PKNPk) for reforestation and urban forest management.
- WyseTime Technologies Sdn Bhd (AI / Computer Vision): A video analytics company that transforms existing CCTV infrastructure into business intelligence for retail, manufacturing, logistics and smart city applications. WyseTime holds Malaysia Digital status and is backed by NVIDIA Inception and Microsoft.
- PAIX Tech Sdn Bhd (Enterprise Finance AI): An AI agent platform automating non-trade payments and financial operations for enterprises through integration with existing ERP systems. PAIX entered the mission after securing five enterprise AI contracts in Q1 2026.
The delegation also participated in a dedicated Malaysia Tech Spotlight session at the SusHi Tech Mini Stage, where Sidec and Mdec presented Malaysia’s technology ecosystem alongside startup pitches to international investors and industry leaders.
Beyond the exhibition floor, Sidec co-organised Asia MirAI Day 2026 at the Tokyo Innovation Base, bringing together ecosystem builders from across Asia to explore cross-border collaboration in AI and emerging technologies. The company also co-organised the Industry Networking Night alongside Mdec and led Rise & Pitch: Startups Pitching & VC Connect (Tokyo Edition), providing Malaysian startups with direct access to venture capital networks across Japan and Asia-Pacific.
The mission included engagements with Plug and Play, Endeavor Japan, RX Japan, Tokyo SME Support, NSW Inc. and the Cambridge Innovation Center, alongside participation in the GovTech Conference Global and Asean Market Entry Forum.
An opening engagement with Matrade Tokyo also helped establish trade facilitation linkages between Selangor-based companies and the Japanese market.
“This mission was never just about visibility — it was about putting our startups in the room with the right people. Seeing them pitch, connect and hold their ground alongside the best from across Asia reinforced exactly why internationalisation is central to what we do at Sidec,” said Yong Kai Ping, CEO of Sidec.
The Sidec WorldStage Venture mission forms part of Sidec’s broader strategy to accelerate the internationalisation of Selangor’s startup ecosystem and advance the state’s digital economy agenda through market access, investor linkages and strategic technology partnerships.
