Nexmedis, an Indonesia-based AI-powered Health Information System provider, has secured an undisclosed amount of funding co-led by East Ventures and Forge Ventures. This funding will support Nexmedis’ mission to revolutionise healthcare operations, enhance clinical services, and improve patient outcomes across Indonesia. It will also help expand its services to hospitals across the country and launch more tailored AI solutions to address healthcare challenges.

Inefficiencies in healthcare, such as manual administrative tasks and fragmented data, have delayed diagnoses and treatments. Additionally, Indonesia’s vast geography complicates the delivery of advanced medical tools and training to remote areas, affecting patient care.

Founded in 2023 by Yehuda Dani Utomo (co-founder and CEO), Matilda Narulita (co-founder and COO), and Dr. Almer Deta Tarandha (co-founder and chief medical officer), Nexmedis combines expertise in computer science, management consulting, and medicine to drive healthcare innovation. Its solutions focus on incorporating AI into healthcare processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Nexmedis offers an AI-powered HIS that enhances the patient and healthcare provider journey, starting with its Clinical Decision Support solution. This tool provides diagnosis recommendations with ICD-10 codes (International Classification of Diseases 10th Revision), enabling tailored treatment recommendations and seamless insurance claims processing. It ensures accurate data input for Indonesia’s Social Security Agency for Health and private insurers.

The company is also developing an AI-powered transcription tool that converts voice notes into structured digital records, summarising conversations between patients and doctors. This tool aims to reduce manual paperwork, streamline operations, and allow healthcare providers to focus more on patient care. It is set to launch soon.

“We are thrilled to have secured this investment, which will be a game-changer as we continue to innovate and bring AI-driven solutions to healthcare. The commitment from East Ventures and Forge Ventures reflects the trust they’ve placed in our mission to bridge the healthcare accessibility gap through technology. With their support, we are poised to accelerate our growth and impact, improving patient care and outcomes,” said Yehuda Dani Utomo, co-founder and CEO of Nexmedis.

Since August 2023, Nexmedis has served over 400 healthcare facilities. Its medical diagnostics AI has achieved “Fostered by the Ministry of Health” status in the Regulatory Sandbox programme of Indonesia’s Ministry of Health. The company has also formed partnerships with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology for AI-powered health digitalisation and leading institutions like Gadjah Mada University for research collaboration.

“We are excited to support Nexmedis in transforming Indonesia’s healthcare landscape by integrating AI to improve efficiency and patient care. Their development and partnerships with key institutions highlight the need for innovative digital solutions in the sector,” said Melisa Irene, partner at East Ventures.

“At the foundation of great companies are great founders, and we’re looking forward to partnering with Yehuda, Matilda, and Almer, who are driving change in a vital sector in Indonesia through their innovative products,” said Tiang Lim Foo, managing partner at Forge Ventures.

This funding will enable Nexmedis to expand its services to more hospitals and launch tailored AI solutions to further address Indonesia’s healthcare challenges.
