TM One, the enterprise and government solutions arm of Telekom Malaysia (TM), and Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Berhad (SDEC) have announced the next phase of their strategic partnership to advance Sarawak’s digital economy, digital society, and government services through enhanced connectivity.
The parties recently signed a master service agreement to expand Sarawak’s digital infrastructure, aimed at improving connectivity and accelerating the adoption of advanced technologies and smart services to drive the state’s digital transformation. This partnership aligns with the Sarawak Digital Economy Strategy and Post-Covid Development Strategy 2030.
As part of the collaboration, TM One will deploy its Metro-E solution, offering flexible, secure, high-performance bandwidth connectivity scalable up to 10 Gbps. This solution provides dedicated access for critical applications, proactive security monitoring, and nationwide coverage, meeting the stringent service level requirements of enterprises and government agencies.
Shazurawati Abd Karim, Executive Vice President of TM One, said, “We are delighted to partner with SDEC to advance Sarawak’s digital transformation. The Metro-E project will enhance Sarawak’s digital economy by fostering innovation, improving access to digital services, and bridging the digital divide.”
She added, “High-speed connectivity at these 81 sites is essential for adopting advanced technologies, improving customer experiences, and boosting operational efficiency. This collaboration reinforces TM One’s commitment to Sarawak’s sustainable growth and digital aspirations, aligned with the state’s 2030 strategies.”
Over five years, the project will deliver high-speed internet connectivity to underserved and rural areas, supporting key sectors such as education, healthcare, and local businesses. It will enable cloud computing, telemedicine, online education, and other digital solutions, further advancing Sarawak’s digital progress. The partnership underscores TM One and SDEC’s dedication to transforming Sarawak by empowering local communities and businesses and enhancing government services through digital technologies.
This collaboration marks another milestone in TM’s commitment to driving Malaysia’s digital transformation, fostering industry growth through digitalisation and sustainability, and achieving its vision of becoming a Digital Powerhouse by 2030.
