CelcomDigi Berhad through its innovation centre, has partnered with KPJ Healthcare Berhad (KPJ) to enhance cross-border healthcare access via telemedicine. The collaboration leverages advanced telemedicine solutions to provide access to specialised treatments, cost-effective care, and high-quality medical services globally, positioning Malaysia as a preferred healthcare tourism hub, the organisations stated.

They highlighted the extensive benefits of the partnership, noting that telemedicine connects patients with international specialists, improving access to quality care, particularly in remote or underserved regions. It also reduces costs by minimising travel and accommodation expenses, making specialised healthcare more affordable. Additionally, patients will gain quicker access to consultations and second opinions from renowned Malaysian specialists, along with seamless post-treatment care, aiding effective recovery management.

The partnership aims to eliminate geographical and financial barriers that hinder access to necessary medical care. By doing so, it positions Malaysia as a leader in health tourism and digital healthcare innovation, attracting local and international patients seeking high-quality, cost-efficient solutions.

“This partnership with KPJ represents a significant step in reshaping healthcare delivery, within Malaysia and beyond,” said CelcomDigi’s chief innovation officer, Kugan Thirunavakarasu. “With telemedicine, we are breaking traditional barriers to healthcare access, ensuring patients can receive tailored services wherever they are. We are empowering both patients and providers to enhance efficiency, improve outcomes, and redefine the patient experience.”

Chin Keat Chyuan, president and managing director of KPJ Healthcare, added, “Patient-centricity, the core of our Care for Life purpose, drives us to explore innovative solutions to enhance patient outcomes and experiences. KPJ is committed to integrating advanced technologies like AI and telemedicine to revolutionise healthcare delivery.”

He explained, “AI boosts efficiency and accuracy with predictive diagnostics, personalised treatments, and proactive disease management, while telemedicine expands access to specialised care and ensures continuous remote support. These advancements contribute to a robust healthcare ecosystem that redefines patient-centred care and fosters a healthier, more connected future for all.”
