- Penang facility to anchor MPS’s Malaysia operations and support semiconductor innovation

Monolithic Power Systems, Inc. (MPS), a leading provider of high-performance power solutions, has officially opened its first engineering and test centre in Penang.
The new facility will support MPS’s expanding global operations and testing capacity. Leveraging its proprietary technology and engineering expertise, the company develops high-performance, ultra-efficient power management solutions used across data centres, automotive, consumer and industrial segments.
The centre will also serve as MPS’s Malaysia headquarters. The opening ceremony was attended by Chow Kon Yeow, chief minister of Penang; Loo Lee Lian, CEO of Invest Penang; and Deming Xiao, executive vice president of Global Operations at MPS.
Chow Kon Yeow said the investment aligns with Penang’s efforts to strengthen its semiconductor ecosystem.
“MPS’s aspiration towards cutting-edge R&D for semiconductor design resonates with the PSD@5KM+ vision. With PSD@5KM+ nurturing a pipeline of highly skilled talent, and MPS creating opportunities to apply these skills on a global scale, we are strengthening Penang’s role as the heart of Malaysia’s semiconductor innovation and the Silicon Valley of the East.”
Deming Xiao noted that MPS continues to expand its global footprint following strong business performance. “With record revenue in 2025 and 14 consecutive years of growth, we continue to invest strategically in regions that offer strong technical talent and operational excellence,” he said.
“The Penang engineering and test centre strengthens our global capabilities and supports our long-term expansion strategy,” he added.
