Maxis has introduced its Scholarship Programme 2025, designed to support promising Malaysian students in their higher education journeys. In a statement, the telco said the programme reflects its commitment to nurturing talent to drive the nation’s digital ambitions and build an AI-ready workforce.
Previously open only to first-year undergraduates, the programme has been expanded this year to include second-year undergraduates and postgraduates aged 18–23 enrolled in recognised higher education institutions in Malaysia. The scholarships cover both tuition fees and living expenses, while also offering opportunities for internships and job placements with Maxis upon graduation, subject to academic and programme requirements.
Patrick Er, chief people & transformation officer at Maxis, said, “We are committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders through our Maxis Scholarship Programme. The programme combines vital financial support with practical industry exposure to develop Malaysia’s future talent. Aligned with the 13th Malaysia Plan’s focus on AI readiness, this initiative prepares scholars to excel professionally and contribute meaningfully to our nation’s digital transformation.”
He added: “This reflects our belief that ‘Tomorrow Begins Today’, as we empower young Malaysians to shape the nation’s digital future.”
The programme continues to prioritise Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and related fields critical to Malaysia’s digital transformation. Eligible areas of study include Engineering (Network, Telecommunications, Software, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic); Technology (Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Technology); Mathematics, Statistics or Actuarial Science; and Accounting, Finance or Economics.
To date, Maxis has supported 349 students through its scholarship programmes. Applications are open now until 12 September 2025.
