Bridge Data Centres appointed Former MDEC’s CEO as head of Malaysia

  • Led MDEC from 2021 to 2024
  • Tasked to strengthen Malaysia as a pivotal digital infrastructure hub in SEA

Mahadhir Aziz (pic), the former CEO of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), has been appointed the vice president general manager for Malaysia at Bridge Data Centres (BDC), a leading provider of hyperscale data centre solutions in Asia. He will report to Eric Fan, president of BDC. 

Knowned his leadership at MDEC from 2021 to 2024, Mahadhir spearheaded initiatives that positioned Malaysia as a key global digital hub. Under his stewardship, MDEC secured US$384 million (RM170 billion) in digital investments, transitioned from MSC to Malaysia Digital, introduced the digital nomad visa, and drove digital adoption among over 1.5 million MSMEs. His work has been instrumental in shaping Malaysia’s digital economy and innovation landscape.

In his new role at BDC, Mahadhir will continue his mission to strengthen Malaysia as a pivotal digital infrastructure hub in Southeast Asia. His leadership will be instrumental in advancing BDC’s initiatives to support Malaysia’s standing within the global digital ecosystem, by expanding the company’ hyperscale, build-to-suit data centre solutions across this blossoming region.
